At the headquarters of Bytomskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunalne Sp. z o.o. in Bytom, a agreement was concluded on 22.10.2024 for the "Construction of a Renewable Energy Installation based on biogas at the “Centralna” wastewater treatment plant in Bytom at 5a Sikorskiego Street in Radzionków".
The facility will be constructed under the ‘design and build’ procedure within 33 months.
Within the scope of the task, among others:
- we will build a separate digester in replacement of the existing open digester
- we will upgrade the sludge treatment facility, where a receiving point for incoming sludge will be created along with a pumping station and incoming sludge tank
- a new thickener for excess sludge and a sludge centrifuge will be installed,/p>
- we will build a new fermented sludge tank and additional installations in the biogas treatment unit.
The subject of the agreement is also the construction of a building for a new cogeneration unit, the replacement of existing cogeneration units and the construction of a waste heat buffer.
The Project's value is PLN 45 012 500.00, including PLN 27 786 562.50 of co-financing from the European Funds and PLN 3 704 875.00 of co-financing from the state budget.
In addition to generating green energy, the project aims to improve air quality in the region and reduce the amount of sewage sludge generated at the treatment plant.
