A consortium of Instal Warszawa and Paprec Energies is starting the construction of a power unit fired with fuel produced on the basis of residues from sorting municipal waste. The investment is being built at Sikorskiego Street in Krosno, in the vicinity of Elektrociepłownia Krosno. The planned date of completion of works and commissioning of the installation is September 2024.
The city of Krosno and Krośnieński Holding Komunalny are starting the implementation of the largest investment in the history of this company - i.e. the construction of a power unit fired with fuel produced on the basis of residues from sorting municipal waste in Krosno. The value of the investment exceeds PLN 135 million (gross). The installation is to be used for thermal processing of waste sorting residues and for the combined production of heat energy (power 6.4 MW) and electricity (1.6 MW) based on this fuel. Annually, the Power Unit is to burn approx. 22 thousand. tons of waste sorting residues. The Power Unit will be a modern facility that meets all environmental and safety standards for the environment. It will use proven technologies and the best solutions. Everything will be located in a structurally closed hall, and the advanced flue gas cleaning system used in the facility will significantly reduce the level of emissions compared to the current state. Importantly, these emissions will be monitored continuously through automatic measurement systems. The investment will significantly improve the efficiency of the Krosno heat and power plant, in which approx. 80% of heat energy will be produced in cogeneration processes.
